Blurring boundaries together, to create a long-lasting cultural legacy in Noto, Ishikawa.
Behind T‑Wabisato rests the intention to interlace the existing community of artists and artisans in Noto to those who travel to Wabisato House for artist residencies lasting 2–6 weeks.
Aiming to connect Norway and Scandinavia with Japan and further to Ghana and Africa, T‑Wabisato Residency will draw lines of commonality and difference, and encourage an interplay of ideas and experiences with art at the centre.
T‑Wabisato Residency will forge bonds that extend beyond borders and experience, opening new creative pathways otherwise unfathomable.
The relationship between T‑Wabisato and the surrounding artistic community already roots itself in mutual understanding. The diverse community of artisans in Noto extends across disciplines.
Rather than solely a space for quiet introspection, T‑Wabisato will create a space of connection and mutual inspiration for the local artists and those enrolled in the residency alike.

T‑Wabisato offers a range of residency pathways for artists, chefs, and cultural practitioners wishing to immerse themselves in the rhythms of Noto. Whether through invitation, open call, culinary collaboration, or institutional partnership, each residency is designed to foster dialogue, shared learning, and meaningful connection with local craftspeople and traditions.

T-Wabisato is a reflection of my trifecta:
Japan / Ghana / Norway“The Japanese in depth and dedicated approach to handcraft and tradition, the Ghanaian hospitable, rich traditions, vibrant and resilient nature of communites plus the Norwegian enduring, earnest, reserved and the sensibilities of dugnad amalgamates into an oasis that fosters growth through mutual respect and appreciation of traditions and cultures.”
T‑Wabisato is sustained by a growing community of members, patrons, and partners who believe in cultural exchange and the value of slow creativity. Their support helps fund residencies, workshops, and local collaborations in Noto.
